Phaser Guitar Lick

Last lick of January is a phaser based guitar lick. Try varying the speed of the bends and vibrato to change the feel of the lick.

Palm muting guitar lick

This is a basic but cool sounding repeating guitar lick that uses palm muting to decrease the impact of the open string and allow the delay effect to become more prominent in the lick.

Country Guitar Lick

A little country guitar lick for today. This lick incorporates some hammer on and pull offs in addition to bending and open strings to provide an intermediate level countryish sounding lick.

Drop D Guitar Lick

I hope you enjoy the last few wah wah licks. Today's guitar lick is in drop d tuning down a half step. It uses symetrical patterns on the fingerboard and a repeating rhythmic structure to develop a methodical groove. Cheers.

A few Wah Guitar Licks for you

I decided to group the next couple of guitar licks into today's post because they are all based on the B Minor Pentatonic (although there are notes included outside that scale) and they all use a wah wah pedal. They're short but sweet. Cheers.

E Phrygian Lick

Here's a little modal guitar lick using the E Phrygian mode based on the C Major scale. It makes a great little hammer on and pull off exercise and sounds pretty cool to me. The video shows it at tempo then slower and with and without distortion.

Lydian Guitar Lick

A little lydian lick for today. Couldn't quite dial in a tone I liked but I hope the video gives you some idea for the guitar part. This is based on the E Lydian Scale which has the same notes as the B Major scale ( of you can think of it as an E Major scale with a sharp 4th). E, F#, G#, A#,B,C#,D#,E

To my ears the lydian scale has a mellow almost spacey feel. Its a favorite choice of Steve Vai's too.
