Blues Rock Guitar Lick in A

A little blues rock guitar lick in the key of A. An uptempo blues rock piece using sliding 6ths for a basic solo.
Drums courtesy of Ampkit App. Used with permission. The rhythmic notation in the guitar tab is just a basic guide listen to the video to get a better feel and more accurate take on the rhythm. Kept the tuning standard this time. Here is the rhythm and lead guitar tab. Cheers.

Arpeggio Picking Exercise

This is a guitar lick that works as a great picking exercise. To play along my guitar is tuned down a half step. It is based on arpeggio shapes using a transition from E minor  to F major. Use alternate picking to keep the overtones from ringing when using distortion. I start on an upstroke. For a real challenge you can try strict alternate picking. I find on this lick though a bit of mini sweep picking or economy picking if you prefer - helps increase the speed and fluidity.
Here is the guitar tab. Cheers.

Drop D Guitar Lick

Here is a guitar lick in Drop D tuning down a half step. It is a pretty basic lick but I like the way it syncs with the drums. watch for the  16 notes and use right hand palm muting throughout. The drums are from the fantastic guitar app Ampkit and are used with permission. I have no affiliation with Ampkit but you can buy the app on the itunes store for half price this weekend. I just did and it sounds great. Questions, comments, complaints send me a message. You can follow me on twitter @jimifan. Cheers. Here is the guitar tab.

A little Guitar Riff with Drums

Since I'm stormed in I thought I'd post another Guitar lick. This is a riff inspired by the drum track. It starts with a pattern based around the A5 power chord and then shifts to an Andy Summers inspired shape based around the G chord. The drum backing track is from the Ampkit App used with permission. Guitar is tuned down a half step if you want to play along. I use a fair bit of right hand palm muting to keep the notes crisp and avoid too much unwanted noise.

Here is the guitar tab.

Take Two - Guitar and iPod love

Ok so inevitably I've been delayed again. Had to re install windows a few times and that was a lot of fun.
In any case I've got the ipod and guitar behaving thanks to iRig and Ampkit. I've got permission to use the backing tracks from the AmpKit App in my youtube videos so this is the first one to try that out. Basically I'm running the iPod into my amp then out to the line out on my computer for this lick.

I'm using the strat so I'm tuned down a half step. The guitar lick uses the F Minor Pentatonic scale so if you don't want to tune down just play in E Minor Pentatonic. Here's the guitar tab. Cheers.
